As a quick refresher, Guelph Gives is part of a larger Giving Tuesday movement; a day to kick-off the giving season and celebrate all forms of giving as we work together to build a better community. Look below for answers to your most common questions!
What is GivingTuesday?
Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday … now we have GivingTuesday, November 27, 2018. It is a new global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes.
How does Guelph get involved?
Charities, businesses, organizations, families and individuals all over Guelph run events and performed acts of kindness to support GivingTuesday. Here are some examples from 2017:
- Booster Juice donated 25% of their proceeds on Giving Tuesday
to a local charity
- Intrigue Media has developed "Giving Rings" that they take
around the community to capture individual and corporate giving
stories. They also collect donations and give it to their
charity of choice for the campaign.
- United Way placed red piggy banks across Guelph to encourage the power of giving
